Tonight’s show follows Georgia’s 56-17 rout over Central Michigan last Saturday. SEC play opens this coming Saturday at South Carolina (3:30, CBS).

Munson opened tonite with a recap of major undefeated teams and the top 10. BYU, Cal and Oregon were mentioned as teams scoring a lot early and of course East Carolina reaching for its place in the national spotlight. (West Virginia was also mentioned in this group but I don’t know why, except maybe in the opposite direction.)

Clay in Guyton opened the calls tonite told Munson he’s ready for Munson to break another metal, steel chair this year. He then asked Coach Richt about motivational speeches – in particular focusing on “Dr. Lou” on ESPN and what that guy said about SC’s defense. There was also a comment supposedly from Dennis Erickson of Arizona St. referring to how many fans we will be taking to the desert next week. CMR said we do sometimes get some ESPN feed so we might use that stuff.

David in Grayson asked about Southerland, and said the CMU game was a total team effort. And we can put the Knowshon leap in Munson’s history book. CMR wants to hear Munson’s call of that too. CMR said there is a chance Southerland could come back for the Bama game as the personal protector on punts.

Dobbs’ INT could easily be the longest INT returned for a TD by a DE.

The 99 yard drive was keyed by Stafford not forcing a pass into coverage then pulling it down and running for a 22 yard gain.

Coming out of break at 8:18 pm ET, Munson’s call of the Knowshon leap was played

Bob in Covington worried that we lost track of the CMU tailback coming out of the backfield a few times. He also mentioned that Craig James of ABC said we do not have the players to go with LSU or Florida. Richt said those passes were being thrown in the flat and a couple of times we were in man coverage, and WRs were running up routes at different levels to make sure they got a pick on the LB. What you have to do sometimes is change your man scheme to zone scheme. They did it a few times on 3rd and short or medium.

Cohen from Douglas asked if we were bringing in a lot of recruits next year. Richt said we don’t have that many seniors leaving us. Plus now we have two guys who would have been seniors this year who got injured and will now come back next year.

Ansley in Dunwoody asked who will start at DEs for SC – Cliff Matthews, and maybe Geathers.

Mitchell in Baxley wonders if Munson will call away games this year, and pointed out CJ Byrd made a great block on the Dobbs INT. Richt said it took a group effort to get Dobbs into the end zone. Curran and Byrd got downfield and Dobbs made a nice cutback then knocked their guy into the end zone.

Les in Macon wonders why we can’t get a kickoff deep. Richt said we’d love to get all of them through the end zone. But moving the ball back to the 30 has made it hard on everybody. We let Walsh take a couple of shots deep Saturday. He’s struggled to get it right where we want it all the time.

Steve in Warner Robins wonders what Richt thought of the left side of the OL. Richt thought they played well – especially Vance who has really played physical. The talent level we’re about to see is a lot different than what we’ve played the first two games.

Meg in Athens thought Saturday was the loudest she’s heard the stadium against a team like that. Richt was pleased with the crowd and mentioned the CMU QB had said he didn’t think noise would be a factor. So Richt challenged everyone to show this guy what Georgia was all about. There were a couple of times when they had to burn time outs and also got a false start penalty that killed a drive.

JB in Hiawassee asked about Logan Gray and Carlton Thomas returning punts. Richt said Gray got to return one and we’re not sure if Carlton Thomas will get in a game. We’re not in a rush.

Dennis in Cornelia wonders how Richt motivates Chris Davis. (Dennis coached Davis in basketball in youth league.) Richt thinks sometimes when a guy is bigger and better its hard to get motivated. The competition we have helps. Plus Searels has done a good job making Chris understand he’s in a very important position being C for Georgia.

Scott in Winder notes this is twice we’ve played some big-time QB from another conference, and wonders if UGA is getting the respect we deserve. Richt notes we’ve played well against some highly touted QBs. He wishes our defense would get more credit sometimes. We just need to keep banging away and not worry about what others say about us. Focus on the things we need to get better out.

Chuck in Greensboro, NC asked Richt about getting pressure on the QB. Richt said the ideal is to get pressure with a four man rush. If you have to bring more, you have to be sure you make the QB get rid of it. We’re getting a good push up the middle and need to get more edge pressure.

Michael in Atlanta wonders what out DE rotation will be for this game, and also at LB. Richt said Darius Dewberry is back in good graces; he did a good job taking care of his responsibility to make up for his mistake.

At DE – Dobbs, Lomax, Wynn, Justin Houston and maybe others. It’s always hot and muggy in Columbia and we’ll need everybody.

Dave in Columbia, SC mentioned the “At Home” special on FSN before the game last Sat. Dave also notes we’re only a 7 point favorite and SC always seems to play their best against us. Richt says the games are close because SC is a good football team. We can’t make foolish mistakes and hopefully our playmakers will continue to make plays. The margin of error is a lot less than in the first two games.

Chad in Mt. Airy, NC wonders what we have to do to get more love from ESPN. Richt said he did watch some of it – part of it may be opening with a I-AA team then a MAC team. People just aren’t impressed if you beat a MAC team. Now that we’re rolling into SEC play we’ll get more. Just try not to get too bent out of shape.

William in Cowpens, SC wanted to get Richt’s reaction to Knowshon’s leap and about Curran. CMR is still shaking his head about Moreno’s play. He’d seen him do it in practice once and didn’t think he’d see it again. Curran was Top Dawg on defense and will be a captain this week. This week’s captains will be Massaquoi, Curran, Atkins and R. Brown.

Tim asked about recruiting from south Ga. Richt mentioned Tanner Strickland who’s one of the strongest players in the weight room.

Brent in Kingsland (president of a local Bulldog Club) asked about DeAngelo Tyson and how’s he looking. Richt said Tyson is doing great for a true freshman. He’s still learning what to do and how to do it, but he plays with great enthusiasm.

Bill in Gainesville wonders when Richt is going to add a degree of difficulty on that 10m dive. Richt laughed and said he used to do a full gainer off that high dive. Then, why do so many teams run the spread offense, and what about Miami shutting down Florida’s offense. Richt said the spread forces people to play your QB, and it gets the D spread and gets your skill guys in space. If your QB doesn’t run it is easier to defend. If the QB can run he has to be accounted for.

Barbara in Comer just said she’s glad to have Richt here.

Chan in Greenwood, SC notes a lot of SC players are from Ga., and had kudos for Coach Eason and the WRs. Richt notes some of SC’s top players are from here but we have a few guys from SC. Our WRs are growing up and gaining some confidence.

Aaron from Brunswick is a Fla. fan but likes how Richt coaches, liked the celebration last year, and will the Georgia-Florida winner go to the national title game. Richt hopes that game has that much meaning by the time we get to it and the winner can go on. Hopefully when that game comes the whole country will be watching.

Chuck in Oakwood asked about the TEs. Richt said Tripp Chandler has done a nice job and caught just about everything thrown his way.
